Department of Bengali Language & Literature

Established in 1963, the Department of Bengali has been serving the cause of the Bengali language and literature successfully. B.A Honours in Bengali was started in 1967 and many batches of successful candidates came out with flying colours and they are well-established in many higher education institutions. Many distinguished teachers served the department.

 Highlights

  • It has good collection of books (about 4600) in the Central Library and in the Departmental Library.
  • It has a Folk Museum in the Department created after surveys and documentations.
  • A departmental scholarly journal Eshana (ISSN 2249-0272) is published annually.
  • The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, surveys and educational tours.
