The inaugural session included a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Giridhari Panda, Principal of Bhatter College, Dantan (Autonomous) and Chief Patron of the seminar, who highlighted the relevance of machine learning and artificial intelligence in contemporary research. Prof. (Dr.) Debabrata Mitra, Chairperson of the Governing Body, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing ethical responsibility in emerging technologies. Dr. Mir Ahammad Ali, Convenor of the Seminar Sub-Committee and Head of the PG Department of English, presented the convenor’s message, outlining the academic vision of the seminar.
The technical sessions began with Technical Session I, introduced by Dr. Uday Chatterjee, NAAC Coordinator, Bhatter College, Dantan (Autonomous). Prof. (Dr.) Sudhan Majhi from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, delivered an insightful lecture on “Introduction to Machine Learning,” followed by an interactive question-answer session.
Technical Session II was introduced by Dr. Swastick Sen Chowdhury, IQAC Member and Head of the Department of Economics. Dr. Sujit Kumar De of Midnapore College (Autonomous) spoke on “The Present Day Research Challenges – Indian Perspectives,” engaging participants in a thoughtful discussion.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, where Dr. Alauddin Dafadar, Head of the Department of Mathematics, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and participants, followed by distribution of certificates among the students. Overall, the seminar provided a meaningful academic platform for discussing both the technical and ethical dimensions of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
