Background and Foundation:
The Department of History was established in the college in 1963, Honours Course was introduced in 1995 and Postgraduate Course was introduced in the year 2019. Students of the department are meritorious, hard-working and they are encouraged by the teachers to reach out beyond the syllabus to explore local history and heritage in the form of field-works and surveys.
Highlights
- It has a good collection of books (about 2500) in the Central Library and in the Departmental Library.
- The Department helped to create Bhatter College Museum in the Central Library.
- It actively participates in local excavation, exploration and documentation.
- The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, surveys and educational tours.
- Departmental results of last three consecutive years for honours students.
