Background and Foundation :
The Department of Music was established in 2005 and Honours in music was introduced in 2006. The department tries to teach the aesthetics of music in its theoretical and applied aspects and help the students in learning the professional skills in music and other performing arts.
Highlights
- It has a good collection of books (about 750) in the Central Library and in the Departmental Library.
- The department is well-equipped with musical instruments and advanced computerized facilities for teaching and learning.
- It has a Departmental Library with books, music CDs etc.
- The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops.
- The department is involved in many interdisciplinary activities in performing arts and collaborates with other departments of the college and prepares the students for various cultural programmes and competitions.
- Students of the department participate and win awards in various cultural competitions.
